Solidarity EM Normandie Style

SD & CSR Student's life

One dimension in EM Normandie student society life that often prevails is indeed solidarity. A clear evidence was when students sported mustachios to support Movember! And as there is no truce in mutual aid, initiatives have multiplied with Burkina F'asso, Hope&Dress and Les Dimanches Electroniques.

Burkina F’asso  in support of Education

11 students have taken over from their elders to keep this student society alive to support the development of the Badenya vocational training centre I Moundasso. Open to Burkinabe youths who have dropped out of school, this institute specialises in agroforestry, plastic arts, cattle breeding and food processing. Further to the building of a classroom last summer, the team intends to raise enough donations to build and equip a plastic art and sewing classroom. Their agenda: registering for the Crédit Agricole de Normandie regional competition, ‘I like my Society/association’, afterwork sessions on African Culture, Games... The team has mustered support: Terre et Cité has renewed its support and IUT GEA du Mans students are also joining the venture.

Hope&Dress and Les Dimanches Electroniques organise a charity clothing collection

On December 18 December, a Caen restaurant was privatised by EM Normandie students for an unusual event: a clothing drive in support of the Secours Populaire with electro music!  A great example of collective intelligence drawing from the knowhow of Dimanches Electroniques, specialised in organising gigs, and Hope&Dress, the organisers of ‘shop my closet’ parties.

« 800 clothings were collected during the evening », said Elodie, president of Hope&Dress. Originally aimed at lightening students’ clothing budgets while encouraging responsible consumption when it was founded in 2017, this student society is now determined to develop a humanitarian dimension.
