Successful English Channel crossing for 3 students from the Squid'EM association
Student's life
They did it! Three students from EM Normandie, members of the Squid'EM association, successfully crossed the English Channel in a relay swim on Wednesday 18 June.
Setting off from Dover at 2.15 am UK time, they reached the French coast at Wissant after a 16-hour effort in 13°C seas, covering a total of around 80 kilometres.

"We're very pleased with this performance, which is the outcome of several months of physical and logistical preparation. We've pushed ourselves to the limit and we're happy and proud to have risen to this sporting challenge together. On several occasions, we were told that it would be better to give up, that the currents were too strong. But we held on. We kept believing, believing in ourselves, and we supported each other right to the end. It wasn't easy, but we gave it our all. It's an experience that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. It was a bit of a crazy project, but we did it," says Pierre Rolland, chairman of the Squid'EM association.
